A Foundation for
21st Century Careers

“Education in Liberal Arts and Technology creates diversified, job-force ready individuals — primed to take on society's challenges.”

— WLAAT Founding Principles

Founded to champion young women in Liberal Arts and Technology, WLAAT has grown into a community for all youth — because opportunity shouldn't have a gender.

Women in Liberal Arts and Technology (WLAAT) provides support to youth pursuing education in the nexus of Liberal Arts and Technology. We believe this dual foundation creates uniquely equipped problem-solvers who can bridge human insight with technological capability.

Through outreach programs, community events, and financial grants, we empower youth to become contributing members of society. Our grant selection process includes personal statements, in-person interviews, and comprehensive personal data evaluation — building not just educational access but lasting personal relationships.

We began our journey with deep roots in Egypt, Guatemala, and India — three communities where we saw extraordinary talent held back by limited access to education. Today, we are proud and humbled to extend our reach to deserving youth across every corner of this beautiful world. Geography is no longer a boundary; potential is our only criterion.

WLAAT is a public charity exempt under IRC Section 501(c)(3). All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Making a Difference,
One Youth at a Time

Three interconnected programs work in concert to create sustainable change in the lives of youth we serve.

Fund Raising

With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, youth can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. 100% of funds collected are dispersed as grants — zero administrative deduction.

Outreach

We strive to find new strategies for identifying and reaching deserving youth. Partnering with social agencies and our ever-expanding network, our team works every day to identify young people who would benefit from the WLAAT experience. Our outreach is intentional, warm, and community-first.

Impact Monitoring

We are dedicated to ensuring our grants create lasting impact. Through loving follow-ups and mentoring — facilitated by our dedicated volunteers — we track grantee progress and provide ongoing support. We believe in relationships, not just transactions. Our impact is measured in lives changed.

The WLAAT Difference

Liberal Arts and Technology education produces graduates who can think critically, communicate persuasively, and build technological solutions to complex human problems. We believe this combination is exactly what the 21st century workforce demands — and that every motivated young person deserves access to it, regardless of their economic circumstances.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

— Ancient Proverb

This is the WLAAT philosophy in a single sentence. We do not give fish — we fund the education, skills, and relationships that teach young people to build entire fisheries. Every grant is an investment in a lifetime of self-sufficiency.

Grant RecipientGuatemala

Gleice's Journey: From Guatemala to the World of Biology

In Esquipulas, Guatemala, a young woman named Gleice grew up surrounded by extraordinary biodiversity — and a dream that financial circumstance threatened to extinguish. WLAAT stepped in with a scholarship enabling her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In her words: “WLAAT hasn't just given me a scholarship; they've given me hope and the opportunity to chase my dreams.”

Gleice now participates in research projects and aims to contribute to conservation efforts in Guatemala — a ripple effect that reaches far beyond one student.

Founding VisionOur Beginnings

Paving the Path to a Brighter Future

Our very first post — written when WLAAT was just finding its footing — captures the spirit that still drives everything we do. We looked at the stars and said: to reach them, the world needs mathematicians, scientists, and engineers.

“Go ahead and dream big, dream of going to college. And let college funding not be the blocker — talk to us.” That invitation is still open. It always will be.
